# OpenNote vs MD

The clearest difference is update cadence: OpenNote at every 6 days against MD's every 6 months. MD's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenNote sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and MD sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OpenNote ships an update every 6 days, MD every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
