# FE vs McElroy Operator

The clearest difference is rating: McElroy Operator at 5.0 against FE's 3.0. McElroy Operator also leads on monetization model (free vs subscription) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 9 days). FE's advantage is ratings volume (10 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

McElroy Operator holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FE has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

FE ships an update every 9 days, McElroy Operator every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
