# Coupling vs Hanly

The clearest difference is monetization model: Hanly at free against Coupling's free with in-app purchases. Hanly also leads on ratings volume (357 vs 9). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Coupling sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Hanly sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Coupling against 4.9 for Hanly. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hanly has 357 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 99% positive.

Coupling ships an update every 3 weeks, Hanly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
