# VPN Lite vs SPL VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SPL VPN at 100% against VPN Lite's 28%. SPL VPN also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.6). VPN Lite's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (19 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Lite sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days and SPL VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.39 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN Lite holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Lite has 19 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 28% of VPN Lite's written reviews are positive against 100% of SPL VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VPN Lite ships an update every 3 weeks, SPL VPN every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
