# Authenticator vs Shark Tracker

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Authenticator at 100% against Shark Tracker's 8%. Authenticator also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Shark Tracker's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Authenticator sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Shark Tracker sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shark Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 137 and 553 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Authenticator's written reviews are positive against 8% of Shark Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
