# J2Adventures vs OpenEar Tours

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: J2Adventures at none against OpenEar Tours's 10. J2Adventures also leads on ratings volume (68 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). OpenEar Tours's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenEar Tours sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. J2Adventures asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for J2Adventures against 5.0 for OpenEar Tours. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: J2Adventures has 68 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

J2Adventures ships an update every 4 months, OpenEar Tours every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
