# DogJournal vs Mirror Journal 2

The clearest difference is update cadence: Mirror Journal 2 at every 6 months against DogJournal's every 17 months. Mirror Journal 2 also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DogJournal sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Mirror Journal 2 sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DogJournal ships an update every 17 months, Mirror Journal 2 every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
