# iPolyglot vs Speak Languages

The clearest difference is ads: iPolyglot at none against Speak Languages's shown. iPolyglot also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Speak Languages's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 79%) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.5). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iPolyglot sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Speak Languages sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iPolyglot holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 106 and 44 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of iPolyglot's written reviews are positive against 100% of Speak Languages's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iPolyglot ships an update every 11 days, Speak Languages fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
