# SPL VPN vs Echo VPN

SPL VPN and Echo VPN both sit at 4.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of SPL VPN's written reviews are positive against 63% of Echo VPN's. SPL VPN also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). Echo VPN's advantage is ratings volume (7 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SPL VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.39 per 7 days and Echo VPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for SPL VPN against 4.1 for Echo VPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Echo VPN has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of SPL VPN's written reviews are positive against 63% of Echo VPN's.

SPL VPN ships an update fortnightly, Echo VPN every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
