# Speed reading vs TurboRead

The clearest difference is review sentiment: TurboRead at 100% against Speed reading's 25%. TurboRead also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Speed reading's advantage is ratings volume (145 vs 29) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed reading sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and TurboRead sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TurboRead holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed reading has 145 ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 25% of Speed reading's written reviews are positive against 100% of TurboRead's.

Speed reading ships an update every 5 weeks, TurboRead every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
