# Speed reading vs WoRD

Speed reading and WoRD both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of WoRD's written reviews are positive against 25% of Speed reading's. WoRD also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Speed reading's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (145 vs 10). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed reading sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and WoRD sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Speed reading against 4.6 for WoRD. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed reading has 145 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 25% of Speed reading's written reviews are positive against 100% of WoRD's.

Speed reading ships an update every 5 weeks, WoRD every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
