# Coursology vs Study Buddy

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Study Buddy at 59% against Coursology's 16%. Study Buddy also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). Coursology's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and ratings volume (4.6K vs 339). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Coursology sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Study Buddy sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Coursology holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Coursology has 4.6K ratings behind it against 339, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of Coursology's written reviews are positive against 59% of Study Buddy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Coursology ships an update every 2 weeks, Study Buddy fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
