# TopInfrared vs Kraken NextGen

The clearest difference is rating: TopInfrared at 3.5 against Kraken NextGen's 2.5. TopInfrared also leads on ratings volume (52 vs 6) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.2). Kraken NextGen's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 40%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TopInfrared sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Kraken NextGen sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

TopInfrared holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TopInfrared has 52 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of TopInfrared's written reviews are positive against 67% of Kraken NextGen's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TopInfrared ships an update every 3 weeks, Kraken NextGen every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
