# Spacebar Memory vs Journal Lock

The clearest difference is ads: Journal Lock at none against Spacebar Memory's shown. Spacebar Memory's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 18.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spacebar Memory sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.00 per month and Journal Lock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spacebar Memory ships an update fortnightly, Journal Lock every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
