# Metanote vs Leaf Note

The clearest difference is rating: Metanote at 4.5 against Leaf Note's 4.0. Metanote also leads on ratings volume (11 vs 1). Leaf Note's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metanote sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Leaf Note sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Metanote holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Metanote has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Metanote ships an update every 2 weeks, Leaf Note every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
