# Metanote vs Riff

The clearest difference is iOS requirement: Metanote at 14.0 against Riff's 26.0. On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metanote sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per year and Riff sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
