# Smart Ride vs Steps

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Smart Ride at none against Steps's 10. Smart Ride also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). Steps's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Steps sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Smart Ride asks for nothing beyond the download.

Smart Ride ships an update every 4 months, Steps every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
