# NovelBar vs Between Covers

The clearest difference is rating: Between Covers at 5.0 against NovelBar's 4.1. Between Covers also leads on monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). NovelBar's advantage is ratings volume (2.2K vs 1) and chart position (#29 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NovelBar sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Between Covers sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Between Covers holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NovelBar has 2.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 22, 2026.
