# GhostDiary vs 3 Second

The clearest difference is rating: GhostDiary at 4.7 against 3 Second's 4.0. GhostDiary also leads on ratings volume (181 vs 4) and device support (3 vs 1). 3 Second's advantage is update cadence (daily vs fortnightly). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GhostDiary sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and 3 Second sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GhostDiary holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GhostDiary has 181 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of GhostDiary's written reviews are positive against 95% of 3 Second's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GhostDiary ships an update fortnightly, 3 Second daily. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
