# Maths Formulas vs PhET Simulations

The clearest difference is rating: PhET Simulations at 4.5 against Maths Formulas's 2.5. PhET Simulations also leads on ratings volume (49 vs 2) and chart position (#71 vs unranked). Maths Formulas's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 14 months). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Maths Formulas costs $1.99 and PhET Simulations $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PhET Simulations holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PhET Simulations has 49 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Maths Formulas's written reviews are positive against 66% of PhET Simulations's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Maths Formulas ships an update every 2 months, PhET Simulations every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
