# CamVigil vs SmartPTZ

CamVigil and SmartPTZ both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of SmartPTZ's written reviews are positive against 31% of CamVigil's. SmartPTZ also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). CamVigil's advantage is ratings volume (587 vs 5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CamVigil sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and SmartPTZ sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for CamVigil against 4.6 for SmartPTZ. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CamVigil has 587 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 31% of CamVigil's written reviews are positive against 100% of SmartPTZ's.

CamVigil ships an update every 3 weeks, SmartPTZ weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
