# MEGA VPN vs PixelBlocker

The clearest difference is rating: MEGA VPN at 4.6 against PixelBlocker's 3.9. MEGA VPN also leads on ratings volume (309 vs 37) and device support (3 vs 1). PixelBlocker's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MEGA VPN sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and PixelBlocker sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MEGA VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MEGA VPN has 309 ratings behind it against 37, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 57% and 58% positive.

MEGA VPN ships an update monthly, PixelBlocker every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
