# Layla vs Ruby Chat

The clearest difference is price: Ruby Chat at Free against Layla's $19.99. Ruby Chat also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.8) and ratings volume (320 vs 33). Layla's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and chart position (#20 vs unranked). On review sentiment, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Ruby Chat is free to download; Layla costs $19.99 up front. Layla sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Ruby Chat sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ruby Chat holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ruby Chat has 320 ratings behind it against 33, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of Layla's written reviews are positive against 56% of Ruby Chat's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
