# Alpha News MN vs EggWire

The clearest difference is monetization model: Alpha News MN at free against EggWire's freemium. Alpha News MN also leads on ratings volume (8.1K vs 1). EggWire's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Alpha News MN against 5.0 for EggWire. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alpha News MN has 8.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
