# Between The Reins vs Barrel Pro

The clearest difference is monetization model: Barrel Pro at free with in-app purchases against Between The Reins's subscription. Barrel Pro also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). Between The Reins's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (324 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Between The Reins sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $30.00 per month and Barrel Pro sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Between The Reins holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Between The Reins has 324 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Between The Reins's written reviews are positive against 100% of Barrel Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Between The Reins ships an update monthly, Barrel Pro every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
