# Widgle vs Hook Jam

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Widgle at 100% against Hook Jam's 27%. Widgle also leads on ads (none vs shown). Hook Jam's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.8) and update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Widgle sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Hook Jam sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hook Jam holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hook Jam has 1.6K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Widgle's written reviews are positive against 27% of Hook Jam's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Widgle ships an update every 5 weeks, Hook Jam weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
