# TingYue vs EReader

The clearest difference is ads: EReader at none against TingYue's shown. EReader also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and review sentiment (83% vs 66%). TingYue's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TingYue sells 23 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and EReader sells 11 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

EReader holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 413 and 253 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 66% of TingYue's written reviews are positive against 83% of EReader's.

TingYue ships an update every 4 days, EReader fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
