# TingYue vs Context

The clearest difference is ads: Context at none against TingYue's shown. TingYue's advantage is ratings volume (414 vs 13) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TingYue sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Context sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for TingYue against 4.5 for Context. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TingYue has 414 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 66% of TingYue's written reviews are positive against 58% of Context's.

TingYue ships an update every 5 days, Context every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
