# OctoStudio vs MICDS

The clearest difference is ratings volume: OctoStudio at 65 against MICDS's 2. OctoStudio also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). MICDS's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MICDS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OctoStudio has 65 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

OctoStudio ships an update monthly, MICDS every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
