# PrivateSentry vs Sheltery

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PrivateSentry at 60% against Sheltery's 0%. PrivateSentry also leads on ads (none vs shown). Sheltery's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.9) and monetization model (free vs freemium). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PrivateSentry sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and Sheltery sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sheltery holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 168 and 69 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of PrivateSentry's written reviews are positive against 0% of Sheltery's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PrivateSentry ships an update weekly, Sheltery fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
