# Zen7 VPN vs Shield VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Zen7 VPN at 83% against Shield VPN's 60%. Shield VPN's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (507 vs 114). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zen7 VPN sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Shield VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shield VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 114 and 507 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Zen7 VPN's written reviews are positive against 60% of Shield VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Zen7 VPN ships an update every 3 weeks, Shield VPN every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
