# DocScan vs SC Scanner

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SC Scanner at 100% against DocScan's 42%. SC Scanner also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). DocScan's advantage is ratings volume (1.7K vs 5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DocScan sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and SC Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SC Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DocScan has 1.7K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 42% of DocScan's written reviews are positive against 100% of SC Scanner's.

DocScan ships an update every 3 weeks, SC Scanner weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
