# Senpai Chat vs ReadInstead

Senpai Chat and ReadInstead are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.

Both are free to download. Senpai Chat sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and ReadInstead sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $7.19 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Senpai Chat ships an update weekly, ReadInstead every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
