# Hat Creek vs Neon Cactus

The clearest difference is update cadence: Neon Cactus at every 3 weeks against Hat Creek's every 11 months. Hat Creek's advantage is ratings volume (2.2K vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Hat Creek against 5.0 for Neon Cactus. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hat Creek has 2.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hat Creek ships an update every 11 months, Neon Cactus every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
