# Chessed Up vs Chess

The clearest difference is update cadence: Chess at every 5 days against Chessed Up's every 10 months. Chessed Up's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chessed Up sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Chess sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chessed Up ships an update every 10 months, Chess every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
