# Smart iOCR vs Prometheus

The clearest difference is update cadence: Prometheus at every 3 months against Smart iOCR's every 11 months. Smart iOCR's advantage is iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Smart iOCR ships an update every 11 months, Prometheus every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
