# FileCloud vs Nextcloud

The clearest difference is update cadence: Nextcloud at weekly against FileCloud's every 6 weeks. Nextcloud also leads on ratings volume (10K vs 338). FileCloud's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 61%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for FileCloud against 4.7 for Nextcloud. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nextcloud has 10K ratings behind it against 338, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 80% of FileCloud's written reviews are positive against 61% of Nextcloud's.

FileCloud ships an update every 6 weeks, Nextcloud weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
