# Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop vs CountdownerSMS

The clearest difference is monetization model: CountdownerSMS at free with in-app purchases against Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop's subscription. CountdownerSMS also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 79%). Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (395 vs 4). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and CountdownerSMS sells 7 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop has 395 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop's written reviews are positive against 100% of CountdownerSMS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Thingiverse MakerWorld | 3Drop ships an update every 9 days, CountdownerSMS every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
