# Freedom Chat vs KT Messenger

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: KT Messenger at none against Freedom Chat's 2. KT Messenger also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 88%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). Freedom Chat's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (117 vs 8). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Freedom Chat sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. KT Messenger asks for nothing beyond the download.

Freedom Chat holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freedom Chat has 117 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of Freedom Chat's written reviews are positive against 100% of KT Messenger's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Freedom Chat ships an update weekly, KT Messenger every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
