# Botanical Sciences vs Great Smoky

The clearest difference is update cadence: Great Smoky at every 2 weeks against Botanical Sciences's every 3 months. Great Smoky also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 10) and rating (4.9 vs 4.6). Botanical Sciences's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Great Smoky holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Great Smoky has 1.1K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Botanical Sciences ships an update every 3 months, Great Smoky every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
