# SelfStudy vs Magnet Academy Prep App

The clearest difference is update cadence: SelfStudy at every 2 months against Magnet Academy Prep App's every 13 months. SelfStudy also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SelfStudy sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Magnet Academy Prep App sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SelfStudy ships an update every 2 months, Magnet Academy Prep App every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
