# SelfStudy vs PrepMonkey

The clearest difference is ads: SelfStudy at none against PrepMonkey's shown. SelfStudy also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.6). PrepMonkey's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SelfStudy sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and PrepMonkey sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SelfStudy ships an update every 2 months, PrepMonkey fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
