# FivePointFive vs Spire

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Spire at none against FivePointFive's 5. Spire also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.6). FivePointFive's advantage is ratings volume (4.9K vs 1) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FivePointFive sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $44.99 per 3 months. Spire asks for nothing beyond the download.

Spire holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FivePointFive has 4.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

FivePointFive ships an update every 5 days, Spire every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
