# Basemix vs Flashlight

The clearest difference is rating: Basemix at 5.0 against Flashlight's 4.4. Basemix also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). Flashlight's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (19 vs 1). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flashlight sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Basemix asks for nothing beyond the download.

Basemix holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flashlight has 19 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Basemix ships an update every 9 months, Flashlight every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
