# Hype vs Prep Network

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hype at none against Prep Network's 10. Hype also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Prep Network's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (84 vs 11). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prep Network sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month. Hype asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hype holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prep Network has 84 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Hype ships an update every 2 months, Prep Network every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
