# Umax vs Smoothcomp

The clearest difference is rating: Umax at 4.6 against Smoothcomp's 2.9. Umax also leads on ratings volume (52K vs 35) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 weeks). Smoothcomp's advantage is review sentiment (26% vs 17%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Umax sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Smoothcomp sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Umax holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Umax has 52K ratings behind it against 35, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 17% of Umax's written reviews are positive against 26% of Smoothcomp's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Umax ships an update every 8 days, Smoothcomp every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
