# Wallpapers・Dynamic Island vs Backdrop

The clearest difference is monetization model: Backdrop at freemium against Wallpapers・Dynamic Island's subscription. Backdrop also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 4 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 81%). Wallpapers・Dynamic Island's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 5) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wallpapers・Dynamic Island sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and Backdrop sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Wallpapers・Dynamic Island against 4.6 for Backdrop. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wallpapers・Dynamic Island has 1.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 81% of Wallpapers・Dynamic Island's written reviews are positive against 100% of Backdrop's.

Wallpapers・Dynamic Island ships an update every 4 months, Backdrop every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
