# CometVPN vs Virtual Number & SMS

The clearest difference is review sentiment: CometVPN at 63% against Virtual Number & SMS's 0%. CometVPN also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Virtual Number & SMS's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 3.6) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CometVPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Virtual Number & SMS sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Virtual Number & SMS holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Virtual Number & SMS has 54 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of CometVPN's written reviews are positive against 0% of Virtual Number & SMS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CometVPN ships an update every 3 weeks, Virtual Number & SMS every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
