# Melody Scanner vs Music Scanner

The clearest difference is rating: Music Scanner at 3.0 against Melody Scanner's 1.6. Music Scanner also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly). Melody Scanner's advantage is review sentiment (28% vs 0%) and ratings volume (36 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Melody Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Music Scanner sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Music Scanner holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 1.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Melody Scanner has 36 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 28% of Melody Scanner's written reviews are positive against 0% of Music Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Melody Scanner ships an update fortnightly, Music Scanner every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
