# Speak AI vs Word Edge

The clearest difference is rating: Speak AI at 4.9 against Word Edge's 3.7. Speak AI also leads on ratings volume (409 vs 3) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.0). Word Edge's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speak AI sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Word Edge sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speak AI holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speak AI has 409 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speak AI ships an update every 3 weeks, Word Edge every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
